Raquel began her career in law shortly after graduating from Brock University, where she obtained a degree in Psychology and a minor in philosophy. Following graduation, Raquel obtained a job in a real estate firm working as a legal assistant. During this time, she took courses at Ryerson University while volunteering at the Learning Disabilities Association of Toronto, then later volunteering at the Distress Center of Halton. She also traveled around the world in the years following her graduation, most notably spending six weeks backpacking around Europe. Her interest in family law came as a means to amalgamate her educational background and volunteer experience with a career in law. She began working for a family law firm in Toronto. This experience helped solidify her passion for family law. Following her time at the family law firm, Raquel went to the U.K. to obtain a law degree at the University of Birmingham. During her time at law school, she participated in several internal law school competitions including negotiations, debating, and client interviewing. She was also an integral part of the Freedom Law Clinic, participating in the research and drafting of documents used in an on-going murder exoneration case in the U.K. Raquel aspires to become a family law lawyer and plans to work towards this goal while beginning her career at Stephen Durbin & Associates as a law clerk.
When she is not working, Raquel enjoys reading, hiking, and hanging out with her friend’s pets.
