Afnan Arshad is a strong and fearless advocate with experience in all areas of family law, including high conflict parenting disputes, and all financial matters arising from a separation including, support matters, income determination issues, division of property, and domestic contracts (cohabitation, marriage and separation agreements). Afnan seeks to provide her clients with practical, and cost-effective solutions to emotionally challenging problems, with compassion. She is skilled at reaching negotiated settlements and creative resolutions for her clients.
Afnan regularly appears at the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario.
Afnan attended the University of Toronto where she obtained her (Hons.) Bachelor’s degree and Master of Teaching. She completed her law degree from the University of Kent, and Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School. While in law school, Afnan participated in various negotiation and moot competitions, and actively volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada Family Law Project.
Afnan practiced exclusively in the area of family law since her call to the Bar in Ontario in 2022. Before joining Stephen Durbin and Associates, Afnan worked at a prominent boutique law firm in Oakville.
In her personal time, she enjoys fitness, training in kickboxing, and healthy living initiatives.
